Position
Technical sales
Company
Scottish optoelectronic manufacturer
Degree
MSc Photonics and Optoelectronic Devices
I took a career
break after a first degree in Electronics and Communication
Engineering and after 8 years of technical sales and business
development responsibilities in India and Middle East, to join the
MSc in Photonics and Optoelectronic Devices Course in 2001,
successfully graduating in 2002.
The course challenges one with some very serious science, report
writing, lab work, presentations and the summer industrial placement
I undertook with Sharp Labs. At the end of the course, employment
was successfully obtained with a Scottish optoelectronic
manufacturer in their sales office. The MSc in Photonics and
Optoelectronic Devices is drawn upon often for my understanding as
the products manufactured have a strong science base. In my opinion
considering the skills one can bring in to local companies in an
economy which offers considerable opportunities, if equipped
correctly with a good education and work experience it's a positive
situation for the student and the employer.
